ISLAMABAD April 29: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Friday submitted in the National Assembly an adjournment motion seeking to debate in the coming session of lower house, the military exercises by the Indian troops in plains of Jallendher in Indian Punjab across Pakistan-India borders in May next.

The motion says “such military exercises were normally held when there was danger of a war and the Indian decision to hold such exercises across its borders was a source of grave concern for the people of Pakistan and it needed a detailed debate in the lower house by suspending other business”.

The motion has been signed by as many as 16 MNAs belonging to the religious alliance including, Liaquat Baloch, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Laeeq Ahmed Khan, Asadullah Bhutto, Sahibzada Abul Khair, Dr Farid Ahmed Paracha, Dr Ataur Rahman and Maulana Abdul Malik.

It says,” It has been reported in the April 28 newspapers that 20,000 strong Indian troops were scheduled to take part in wargames in the plains of Jallendher of Indian Punjab.

In these exercises, not only sophisticated and most modern arms will be tested but exercises will also be done to foil unclear and chemical attacks and these exercises will be more comprehensive and most modern against the past exercises.

India is carrying out these exercises at a time when both the countries are engaged in confidence building measures and Pakistan has taken lead in taking a number of one-sided CBMs to which India has not responded well.

Now, India without prior information has announced to hold military exercises which is a source of concern for the nation”.
