Protest against doctor

SWABI, April 29: The residents of Maini blocked the Swabi-Topi road against a doctor who, they alleged, had delayed autopsy of a watchman who had been shot dead by some people. The watchman, Fazal Akbar, of the Maini bazaar was killed at 1am and his body was brought to the Topi police station where an FIR was registered. People took the body for autopsy to the civil hospital in Topi.

The protesters said that when they brought the body for postmortem the doctor was not there, and later when he came he intentionally delayed the autopsy, inviting their anger and they blocked the road from 8.30 to 9.30 am., alleging that the doctor failed to conduct timely autopsy.

They demanded transfer of the doctor accusing him of negligence.

The protesters ended the blockade when officials of the local administration assured them that action would be taken against the doctor and the killers of the watchman would be arrested very soon.—Correspondent
