ISLAMABAD, April 29: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that Pakistan’s improving relations with the European Union will not affect its ties with the United States. “I think their effects will be positive and our relations will further improve with European Union and the United States”, the minister told Voice of Germany.

Kasuri said Pakistan was a sovereign country and it had never yielded to external pressure. For example, he said, despite its good relations with the United States, Pakistan had its own stand on Iraq issue.

“We refused to send our army to Iraq and did not support US attack on Iraq,” he added.

He said Pakistan was a developing county and peace was necessary for its development. “No foreign investment takes place where there is tension or lawlessness,” he said.—APP
