By Our Correspondent

COLOMBO, April 29: Dharamaretnam Sivaram, a leading Tamil columnist and editor of a widely-read website, was kidnapped and shot dead by unidentified men in Colombo on Thursday. Mr Sivaram’s bullet-riddled body was found near the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Bridge, behind the Sri Lankan parliament complex, on Friday morning. Mr Sivaram, 46, was abducted by four men in a Toyota car near A police station in the heart of Colombo. He had had dinner with a radio journalist and was about to hire a taxi to go home when the kidnappers seized him and bundled him into the car.
