18 MMA men bailed out

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, April 28: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 on Thursday accepted bail applications of some 18 MMA activists involved in a marathon race attack. The counsel for the accused pleaded before court that the police arrested Pushto speaking people who were earning their livelihood by boot polishing on roads.

He further pleaded that the police had no public evidence against them and that they were implicated in false cases. The council argued that the learned court had already accepted bail applications of 25 activists, including MNA Maulana Qazi Hamidullah and his son Mufti Kafaitullah, some one week ago.

He requested the judge to bail out 18 activists who were sent to jail for identification on last hearing. At this, judge Mirza Rafiuz Zaman accepted their bail applications and ordered their immediate release.

The judge directed the accused to furnish Rs25,000 surety bonds each. Now all the MMA activists arrested in the marathon attack case have been released.
