KARACHI, April 28: Federal Urdu University is the only “guardian varsity of national language”, striving to resolve problems of initial stages of its establishment, however a class of bureaucracy is trying to thwart these efforts. The Deputy Chairman of the Federal Urdu University’s Senate, Jamiluddin Aali, stated this while speaking at the annual dinner reception of Anjuman Asadza-i-Abdul Haq Campus (AAAHC) here on Wednesday.
He urged everyone to come forward to struggle for the protection and development of the varsity.
Mr Aali stressed the need for converting science curricula into Urdu language and said that without taking this step the aim of the Urdu varsity’s establishment could not be achieved.
Varsity’s Syndicate Member Prof Azfar Rizvi said the course of struggle for this varsity’s establishment was hectic but it had been achieved by the efforts of Jamiluddin Aali and Dr Attaur Rehman.
He hoped that the varsity would soon get its due place and play role for the promotion of education in the country.
AAAHC President Syed Nasir Abbas expressed concerns over non-provision of benefits to Urdu varsity’s teachers unlike their counterparts in other varsities.
Former Registrar Qaiser Abbas, Dr Waseemuddin, Prof Suleman D Mohammad and Prof Rana Hilal and other teachers also spoke.—PPI
