KARACHI April 28: MQM chief Altaf Hussain supported the creation of Aga Khan Educational Board in Pakistan. He said that in this era, information technology and scientific knowledge was the only route to progress and prosperity.

In a statement issued on Thursday, from the MQM’s international secretariat in London, Mr Hussain maintained that all those who opposed knowledge and technology were mentally living in the Stone Age.

He said there was no justification for opposing modern methods of knowledge and technology.

Mr Hussain said that the proposed education board would serve the middle class as well.

He also condemned the stance of certain religious extremists against marathon race and other competitive sports by women in our society.

Mr Hussain said that opposition to such events was totally unreasonable and unjustified as it was women’s right to engage in such healthy activities just like men.

In any case, the MQM chief said, women population was higher than men in the country so they could democratically overrule any denial of their fundamental rights.

Mr Hussain said those who opposed women marathon were in fact against women progress.
