HYDERABAD: Holmstead Hall to be renovated

HYDERABAD, April 27: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has constituted a committee for renovation of the Holmstead Hall and construction of a gate at the Pacca Qilla. He formed a five-member committee while presiding over a meeting at the Shahbaz Hall here on Tuesday.

He directed the committee to ensure early completion of the work which would cost Rs5 million.

Regarding land grabbers and encroachments on archaeological sites, the DCO said the authority concerned had been directed to get the archaeological sites vacated from illegal occupiers.

Hyderabad Development Authority director general Tahir Ahmad, building control director Masood Ahmad Jali, archaeological engineer Ghulam Mustafa and others attended the meeting.

CABLE OPERATOR: Owners of the Star Cable Network, Tando Mohammad Khan, have said if some extortionists issuing them constant threats are not arrested within 48 hours, they will close the cable system and resort to protest.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, Pir Ghulam Haider Jan Sarhandi, Akbar Bhatti, Pir Faisal Jan Sarhandi and Aqeel Ahmad Bhatti alleged that a group of extortionists were harassing them for four to five days to pay them Rs10,000 per month.
