KARACHI: Foundation of road laid

KARACHI, April 27: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari on Wednesday laid foundation stone of Sindhi Hotel in Bandhani Colony, Liaquatabad Town. The 6500-feet-long road would be completed with cost of Rs10 million. The project includes carpeting of 125,000 square feet area, besides concrete-flooring of 50,000 square feet street area and lying of 400 feet sewerage pipelines.

Addressing on the occasion, Shoaib Bukhari said that the Sindh government was also earmarking funds for the district government and hence the claim of the city government was wrong that it alone was behind all the development work in the city. “The uplift work of the city government is ongoing because we are providing the funds,” he commented.

The minister said that Rs18 billion had been earmarked in the current finical year and it was hoped that they would be utilized by June 2005.—PPI
