KARACHI: Man kills 7-year-old daughter in Malir

KARACHI, April 24: A man killed his seven-year-old daughter early on Sunday morning in Model Colony. Police said that Mohammad Younis, 35, slaughtered his daughter Marium inside his house at Fajr. The little girl was asleep when the father slit her throat, police said. Local councillor Mr Ashraf informed the police about the incident. When police reached the house located in Sheet No 25, the suspect was sitting besides the body soaked in blood. They arrested the suspected father and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

“He keeps on changing his statements, saying that he was under spell of black magic; he was jobless; he could not feed his child,” said an official of the Model Colony police station.

According to police, Yousaf’s wife had gone to her parent’s house in New Karachi after some discord with her husband a few days back. They said that the suspect used to do white wash, but was reportedly out of work for quite some days.

Police are investigating the case and the suspect will be produced before the court on Monday morning to obtain his remand for further investigation, said a senior police officer of Malir Town.

BODY FOUND: A decomposed body of young man was recovered from Gulistan-i-Jauhar late on Saturday night.

Police said that police was informed on helpline 15 that stench was emanating from

a closed apartment. Subsequently, police reached Erum Heights and broke door of the apartment. “The body was at least a week old, and the victim had apparently committed suicide”, SHO Shahrae Faisal told Dawn.

He was identified as Raja Ghazanfar, 31, son of DSP Muzaffar Kalwar. The victim was married, but was living alone in the apartment due to some discord with his wife, the SHO added.

Police said that the victim was producer and produced several teleplays for the private TV channels.

ACCIDENTS: Four persons died in two separate road accidents on Sunday.

Police said that Zaitoon, 28, and her daughter Sana, 10, died in a collision between two passenger coaches at Siemens Chowrangi in SITE. Police said that her son Salman, who was also traveling with his mother, suffered injuries in the accident.

Police arrested one of the drivers and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

Two young men were killed when a speeding dumper hit them near Northern Bypass early on Sunday morning.

Police said that Nisar Iqbal, 15 and Akbar Ali, 25, were returning from a beach on their motorcycle when they were hit by the heavy vehicle. Later, the bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

DIED: Two suspects died in Aziz Bhatti police custody on Friday.

According to reports, a complainant Saif Hashmi informed the police on helpline 15 that two suspects who had deprived him of his cell phone and cash were in his custody. Subsequently, police mobile of Aziz Bhatti police station went there and took custody of the two suspects identified as Israr and Abdul Aziz.

The SHO Aziz Bhatti registered an FIR and the two suspects were lodged in the lockup.

TPO Gulshan-i-Iqbal told Dawn that since the FIR had been lodged the two suspects were in the custody of the investigation wing of the police. Both the suspects were heroin addicts, he said adding that on Friday night one of the suspects fell ill and reportedly died inside the lockup.

“I was not informed of his death. The next day ASP Gulshan informed me about the incident, saying that the other suspect has been shifted to the JPMC,” the TPO said. Subsequently, the other suspect died during treatment at the JPMC, he added.

The postmortem examination of the two suspects was carried out at the JPMC in the presence of the magistrate. However, their postmortem reports have been reserved till the receipt of the chemical reports.
