Musharraf briefs Annan on talks

JAKARTA, April 23: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Friday said Pakistan and India should take advantage of improvement in the bilateral environment and resolve all outstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute. He was briefing UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan about his talks with the Indian leadership during his last weekend’s visit to New Delhi.

Kofi Annan welcomed the improvement in relations between the two nations. The UN chief briefed the Pakistani leader about his recently released report on the UN Reforms.

Referring to Pakistan’s help to Afghan refugees in casting their votes in Oct 2004 general elections in Afghanistan, he lauded Islamabad’s role for promotion of stability in the region.

Mr Annan briefed the president about his efforts aimed at ensuring developed world’s increased contribution in the form of Official Development Assistance, consistent with the developing countries’ Millennium Development Goals set for the year 2015.—APP
