Man kills wife and four sons
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, April 23: A schoolteacher murdered his wife on suspicion of infidelity and then killed his four sons on Friday in the KMC Quarters in the limits of the Artillery Maidan police station. The schoolteacher, Nadeem Ahmed, 40, woke up on Friday morning, pulled out a dagger, which he had bought a day earlier, and killed his wife, Shahjahan, 35, and four children all of whom were fast asleep.
He first killed his one-and-a-half-year-old son, Fahad. He then killed Haseeb Ahmed, 13; Faseeh, 10, and Hamza, 8.
Having killed his family, he came out of his room and went to the only bathroom in the four-roomed house. His parents, his two brothers and their wives, all of whom live in the same house and were at home as Friday was a public holiday, saw his blood-stained clothes. On peeping into his room, the gruesome scene left them shocked. They quickly locked the bathroom from outside and informed the police on Madadgar 15, who came and arrested him.
The bodies were sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem. Later, all five were buried in a graveyard in Orangi Town.
On Saturday, police produced Nadeem before a judicial magistrate who recorded his statement in which he claimed that he killed his wife because of her infidelity and his sons because he suspected their parentage. He was later remanded to judicial custody.
Nadeem, a schoolteacher at the KMC School in the Bhutta village, Keamari, married Shahjahan in 1992. She was also a schoolteacher at the Usman Memorial School, Khori Garden. Their married life had been going smoothly until six months back when Nadeem started behaving strangely.
Shahjahan’s brother, Ziauddin, said that his sister had expressed fear of being killed by her husband. She had told him that for the past six months her husband would bring some dolls and prick them with pins.
