Navy clinch title

KARACHI, April 23: Pakistan Navy won the four-day Inter-services golf championship for the first time at the Karachi Golf Club on Saturday, says a press release. Pakistan Army were runners-up followed by the PAF at the third spot.

The first day saw Army surging ahead with a one-stroke lead while the Navy put up serious challenge.

Army held onto the lead with 20-strokes on the second day also, well chased by Navy on the third day, who managed to reduce the margin to 10 strokes.

Excellent play by Navy’s Ansar Mehmood with a score of 290 and two over par which made him gross winner of the championship sealed victory.

Saleem Akhter played the winning stroke on the last putt

of the last hole and Khushal Khan struck the longest drive and closest to pin, for the winners.
