PESHAWAR, April 23: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has said that provincial government will accomplish its mission of enforcing Shariat at all costs and will not shirk from any sacrifice for this purpose. “Ulema of all sects are united and the goal of Shariat and progress of masses will be fulfilled from the platform of MMA”, he said while talking to a delegation of Shia community at his office on Saturday. The delegation was led by Advisor to Chief Minister Allama Ramzan Tauqeer, said an official handout.

The minister said that MMA government would ensure supremacy of law and merit in the province and’ unlike the past, would first give a patient hearing to a person accused of a crime before taking any action against him.

However, he made it clear that government would not show leniency to a person against whom a complaint is received, even if he is highly influential or has affiliation with some political party.

He said that government functionaries had to work according to aspirations and expectations of the masses.

Mr Siraj said that leaders of the MMA were demonstrating spirit of sacrifice for expediting developmental process in the province.

He said development schemes like construction of roads, bridges, land preservation, irrigation, water supply etc were being completed in the province on priority basis.

He said MMA government was working with all sincerity to improve lot of the poor, especially those living in far-flung and backward areas of the NWFP and negligence and corruption of government officials would not be tolerated.

Mr Siraj asked the authorities to personally visit and supervise development projects instead of relying on papers and reports.

He also stressed the need of developing close liaison between government officers and elected public representatives for timely completion of schemes.
