Protest drive

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, April 23: Shia leaders as well as faculty of the Jamiatul Muntazir have criticized the government for its failure to provide security to the community and have announced a protest campaign. Speaking at a joint press conference here on Saturday, Allama Afzal Haideri, Abbas Sherazi, Ibrar Husain Shamsi and Kazim Raza regretted that killers of Allama Ghulam Husain Najfi, a faculty member, could not be arrested yet.

They said that scholars and students of the Jamia would hold a peaceful protest demonstration outside the Governor’s House at 4pm on Monday.

Shia women activists would organize a similar demonstration on May 2 if the government failed to arrest the killers of Allam by that time, they added.

Later, a Shia convention would be planned to step up the protest campaign, they added.
