Second bus run ends safely

PEACE BRIDGE, April 21: The second bus run linking the two parts of Kashmir ended peacefully on Thursday despite threats of violence. Twenty-two Kashmiris from the held valley and 11 Pakistanis who had arrived on the inaugural service on April 7 left Srinagar, for the 170-km drive to Muzaffarabad, officials said.

In Muzaffarabad, 25 passengers, including 14 Kashmiris from held valley who had arrived on the first bus two weeks ago, set off to make the journey in the opposite direction.

The two buses which left Srinagar on Thursday were escorted by police amid tight security. The bus that left Muzaffarabad was also escorted by several police vehicles.—Reuters
