KARACHI: Ibad calls for measures to extirpate crimes


KARACHI, April 21: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has called for special manpower to root out specified crimes and to work with full focus in this regard. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held at the governor house here on Thursday which was attended by Senior Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, Home Secretary Brig Mohtaram, IG Police Asad Jehangir, CCPO and other officers.

The governor said that elimination of specified crimes was possible only through special measures and noted that law and order handling agencies had given their best performance to eliminate terrorism from Sindh.

He said that now best capabilities would have to be employed to eradicate street crimes, lifting of vehicles, robberies etc.

Dr Ibad gave five days to the IGP and the CCPO to determine the methodology and chalk out the line of action.

He said there was need to work out an effective strategy in connection to traffic control and called for a report in this regard within 5 days.

The meeting took stock of the obtaining situation in the educational institutions.

The governor called for examining all aspects of the factors responsible for deteriorating teaching environment and academic atmosphere and directed that anyone found playing with the future of the country and nation should be taken to task without any discrimination.

He issued directives to the concerned authorities for further strengthening the intelligence network, to make progress in community policing and maintaining contacts with people at all levels.—APP
