RAWALPINDI, April 17: Fire broke out in an electronics market on Murree Road on Sunday, damaging five godowns and destroying electrical appliances, police said. Witnesses and fire-fighters said fire started in a godown situated at Gul Noor Market at about 4pm and later spread to four other godowns. On seeing smoke coming out of the godown, the shopkeepers and customers present in the market ran away to escape the blaze. Dozens of electrical appliances, including refrigerators, air conditioners, deep freezers, televisions, dishwashers and other items were destroyed. The fire department termed the blaze “undoubtedly accidental”.

According to preliminary report, fire-fighters have not found any evidence that could lead them to think that foul play was involved, a fire-fighter and police official told Dawn.
