KARACHI, April 17: A procession known as ‘chup taazia’ will be taken out on April 18 (i.e. 8th Rabiul Awal) from Nishtar Park at 6.30am and it will terminate at the Noorbagh Musafirkhana, Moosa Lane. The procession will start from Nishtar Park and after passing through Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Market Road, Mahabat Khanji Road, Atma Ram Pritamdas Road it will terminate at Noorbagh Musafirkhana, where a majlis will be arranged.
As soon as the procession will start, all vehicular traffic coming from city side will be diverted on to Soldier Bazaar Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Dr Dawoodpota Road. All traffic on Soldier Bazaar Road from its junction with Dr Dawoodpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road shall flow one way.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Nazimabad side will be diverted onto Nishtar Road towards Zoological Gardens to reach their destinations.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted onto Martin Road towards jail side. These vehicles shall, however, be permitted to proceed up to jail and shall proceed via Jamshed Road, Dada Bhoy Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Sharea Faisal up to Gora Qabristan and then via Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Dawoodpota Road, Preedy Street to their normal route.
When head of the procession reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road with Mansfield Street, vehicles shall proceed straight towards 602 EME Workshop, Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, Old Stratchen Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, M.A. Jinnah Road till the situation permits.
Similarly, all buses, minibuses and heavy vehicles approaching the city from Stadium Road side shall proceed via New M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted at Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road from its junction with New M.A. Jinnah Road/ Link Road behind Mazar Quaid-i-Azam.
All trucks, buses, minibuses approaching from the Super Highway shall be diverted from Al-Azam Square towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2 and shall proceed along Estate Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall follow the same route.
All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from the National Highway shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2, Habib Bank, Manghopir Road, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah, Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall also adopt the same route.
No car shall be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir traffic signal. All cars shall be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again onto Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road. Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Soldier Bazaar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road with Bahadur Yar Jan Road.
All cars coming from Quaid-i-Azam Mazar side along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Numaish traffic signals under any circumstances.
The vehicular traffic approaching Numaish via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those arriving for participating or Ziyarat in the procession i.e. essential service vehicles) shall not be allowed to proceed from the intersection of Shahrah-i-Quaideen/ Link Road behind Mazar-i-Quaid. No bus, minibus or truck will be permitted to proceed beyond this roundabout towards Numaish.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the following intersections, when the head of the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A. Jinnah Road/ Mansfield Street; Preedy Street/ Sarmad Road; Sharah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road; and Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Mohammad Bin Qasim Road.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road side shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Agha Khan Road/ Mansfield Street.
No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from its junction with Preedy Street when the procession clears this intersection.
The vehicular traffic on Aga Khan Road from Zoological Gardens side shall not be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road/ Aga Khan Road intersection.
The diversion of buses, minibuses and other heavy traffic vehicles shall be started well in advance whereas the car traffic shall be diverted as soon the procession starts formation. No vehicles shall be permitted to park along the route of the procession and route will be kept clear from all parking and other obstructions. —PPI
