Malh Saman Shah passes away

KHAIRPUR, April 16: A renowned Sindhi wrestler (Malh) Saman Shah died after a protracted illness in village Lodra, Kingri taluka, late on Friday night. He was suffering from diabetes and other ailments since last 15 years.

Born in village Mian Khan in katcha area, Saman Shah earned fame when he defeated Sher Mirbahar in first round, the then stalwart in traditional wrestling during a mela at Ranipur. He was awarded title of “Rustam-i-Sindh”.

Shah organised many Malh competitions and remained president of Sindh Malh Association for many years.

He was laid to rest at Bagh Ali Shah graveyard near Wada Machhi on Saturday.
