NEW DELHI, April 15: President Pervez Musharraf will receive a special gift during his visit to India from the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, his birth certificate.

The birth registration record of President Musharraf, who was born in Delhi, has been found by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation and a certificate was being prepared, the civic body’s spokesman Madan Thapliyal was quoted by the Press Trust of India (PTI) as saying.

“We have found an entry for a male child born on Aug 11, 1942, identified as “son of a Mr Musharraf” and delivered at the Lala Girdharilal Maternity Hospital,” he said.

Last month, the president’s mother visited the maternity hospital in New Delhi and expressed the desire to get the birth certificates of her two sons, Javed and Pervez, born in that hospital in July 1941 and Aug 1942 respectively.

“Begum Zarin became very emotional during her visit to the hospital and she could even recall the name of the medical superintendent of the hospital in those days and some of the staff members,” said Indira Yadav, medical superintendent of the 75-year-old hospital. —AFP
