HYDERBAD: Tribute paid to I.I. Kazi at founder’s day event

HYDERBAD, April 14: In connection with the Sindh University founder’s week celebrations, the Sindh University Model School organized a debate competition on Thursday on “Allama I.I. Kazi, the guide of youth”. Noted scholar Dr N.A. Baloch was chief guest while in-charge dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof Asif Kazi, presided over the meeting.
Dr N.A. Baloch highlighted the services of late Allama I.I. Kazi and said he was not only a great scholar, an educationist and a thinker but also a great disciplinarian.
Dr Baloch said Allama I.I. Kazi had always urged the students to maintain discipline not only at the campus but also in practical life.
Prof Asif Ali Kazi and Akhtar Memon also expressed their views on the occasion.
Dr Baloch distributed prizes among the students.
The Institute of Arts and Design organized posters exhibition at the institute.
The dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr Kazi Khadim, inaugurated posters exhibition while a large number of faculty members and students from various institutes and departments attended the inaugural ceremony.
The students displayed a large number of posters exhibition which were developed under the theme of “our environment”.
The students of the Institute of Arts and Design, Institute of Women Development Studies and departments of Zoology and English displayed their posters in the exhibition.
SAU: The Sindh Agriculture University as per rules of the Higher Education Commission on Wednesday started PhD classes under the semester system.
At the inaugural function, vice-chancellor Dr Bashir Shaikh said it was for the first time in the history of university that 200 candidates had taken admission to PhD classes.
He said all out efforts would be made to provide teaching and research and scholarship facilities to candidates.
He called upon the teachers and students to conduct research on problems confronting the agriculture sector and introduce new technology.
LUMHS: Prof (Dr) John D. Langdon from the UK delivered a lecture on “Mouth Cancer” on Thursday. He spoke at length on the causes and preventive measures of the disease.
