Labourer dies, children hurt in school roof collapse

By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, April 11: A labourer was killed and some children injured when the roof of the newly-constructed building of the Government Elementary Middle School, 214/EB, caved in here on Monday. Reports said the roof of the newly-constructed rooms suddenly collapsed as a result of which labourer Lal Khan was killed and some children injured. The injured were taken to the rural health centre from where they were discharged after first aid.

Headmaster Mohammad Yousaf alleged that substandard material was used in the construction of rooms.

Meanwhile, DCO Mohammad Ayub Qazi has ordered a probe into the incident.

The parents have also demanded a strict action against the contractor of the building.
