KARACHI: Muttahida activist shot dead

KARACHI, April 11: A former office-bearer of the All-Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization was shot dead by unknown suspects at Shorab Goth late Sunday night. Police said Shahood Hashmi, former joint secretary of the APMSO, alighted from his car near Rangers Headquarters at Shorab Goth when unknown suspects on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire at him.

The victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by his relatives where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Giving details, the police said Shahood Hashmi was coming from North Nazimabad after attending a marriage ceremony. Somewhere near the Powerhouse, his car (AA-6206) broke down. He called his brother-in-law, Tajdar Hasan, who along with his friend, drove up to Shahood.

They were towing up Shahood’s car when the rope came down. Hashmi got off the car to tie up the rope when incident occurred, police added.

On April 6, a former sector in charge of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and two others were gunned down by unknown assailants at Jauhar More.

KILLED: A newly-wed woman was killed by her husband in Sohrab Goth early Monday morning.

Police said Alam Khatoon, 20, was married to Mohammad Khadim few months back. The couple was residing in Mohammadi Goth. Police said on Monday morning Khadim become furious over some

matter and strangulated his wife apparently by her dupatta. The suspect fled from the

spot following the killing, police said.
