KARACHI, April 11: The 20th Pakistan History Conference will be held on April 13 at the Karachi University (KU). This was announced in a KU statement issued on Monday. It said that the Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro will be the chief guest at the inaugural session. The moot is being organized by the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the Pakistan Historical Society and Hamdard Foundation.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, will also speak on the occasion.

Hamdard Foundation President Ms Saadia Rashid will present the welcome address.

The keynote speech will be delivered by prominent scholar and a former director of the Quaid-i-Azam Academy, Prof Shariful Mujahid.

Prominent historians from within the country and abroad have been invited to attend the conference.

Many of them would be presenting the papers covering a variety of topics.

It was pointed out that the Pakistan Historical Society was established in 1950 and eminent historians were in the forefront for the setting up of this body which was created for conducting research in the discipline of history as well as the publication of research works.

The society has so far published more than 90 books on various topics. A journal of this society is also being published regularly. — APP
