KARACHI: Release ordered

KARACHI, April 11: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Monday ordered immediate release of some people detained by police on the charge of issuing fake cheques amounting to Rs30 million. He also ordered an inquiry against those who had lodged a false FIR against them and also against the SHO and investigation officer concerned.

The Minister took the action when some women relative of the accused approached him and complained that some influential people had implicated their family members in a false case to send them behind the bars.

The minister ordered an inquiry by a senior police officials who found the the allegation untrue. Eventually, the minister ordered the release of the accused lodged in the lock-up of the Aziz Bhatti police station.

He also warned that action would be taken against the police officials who would exceed their limits. Corrupt police personnel would not be allowed to play with the dignity and honour of the police force, he remarked.—APP
