Pakistanis to donate more for Jinnah scholarship

TORONTO, April 10: Pakistani community in Canada will donate additional $25,000 to raise the amount of Quaid-I-Azam Muhammad Ali Jnnah scholarship at the York University to $100,000. Consul-General Ghalib Iqbal told Dawnon Sunday that the community had already raised $25,000 and it would donate similar amount in next few months. He said Pakistani community’s contribution of $50,000 would be matched by the Ontario government as per Canadian traditions. It means the Jinnah scholarship for the outstanding students of York University will be worth $100,000.
Meanwhile, Ghalib Iqbal handed over cheques to winners of the Jinnah essay contest of York University students. Khalid H. Khan, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, was declared the winner and was given a cheque of $1,000. Merdan Arazgeldiyev, a political science student from Turkmenistan, received a cheque for $500 for his second position.
