Shabbir grabs crown: Golf

PESHAWAR, April 10: Shabbir Ahmad of Pakistan Navy on Sunday won the 27th Chief of Air Staff Open Championship , while Abbas Ali of Wapda and Mohammad Munir of PTCL grabbed second and third positions in professional category on the final day.
Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Kaleem Sadaat who was the chief guest on the occasion,presented a cash prize of Rs41,000 to Shabbir Ahmad and Abbas was given Rs30,000 for being runners-up and the third position holder Mohammad Munir got cash prize of Rs19,000.
Shabbir who was in 4th position on the third day of the championship and on the final day till the 11th hole was tied with Abbas Ali, later on succeeded to play three birdies on 12th, 13th and 15h holes got lead over the others and was succeeded to play 66 under par score on the final day of the championship.
According to final results in professional category apart of three top position holders Mohammad Sajid, who was on second position on third day went down to 4th position, Talib Hussain was 5th, Akhtar Ali 6th Matloob 7th, M Tariq 8th, M Nazir 9th and Mohammad Arif 10th.
In ladies Gross Category Tahira Nazir of Rawalpindi won gold medal , Jamila Jabbar silver, and Mehvish Javed won bronze medals.
While in ladies Net Category Nadia Raja of Islamabad with 143 score won first prize, Mrs. Ami Qin second 143 and Mrs. Salma Sarfaraz of Islamabad with 146 score won third position.
In Amateurs (0-12) Waseem Raja with 289 was 1st, Waqas Ahmad score 293 remained 2nd ,and Mohammad Safdar scored 294 remained 3rd, Sadiq ur Rehman Ist scored 280, Ali Haider 2nd 288, and Wseem Raraj 3rd 289 respectively.
The final result of Amateur (13-18) was Ehsan Tufail 240 1st, Arbab Omer 2nd 142, and Umer Saleem 3rd 146.
In boys category (under 14 years) master Khushal Khattak stood 1st, master Danish Khattak 2nd and master Hamza Khattak remained 3rd.
In Veterans (55 years and above) Jamshed Karim 1st, Jamal ul Hasnain 2nd and Saifur Rehman 3rd.
In pro-veterans Nawaz Khan 1st, Shaukat Ali 2nd and Abdul Rashid remained 3rd.
