Ranny runs away with Super Jet Cup
LAHORE, April 10: Five-year-old English mare, Ranny, proved worth her name when she ran away with the PIA 777 Super Jet Pakistan Cup run over 1600m during the 32nd Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.
Since it was a partly cloudy day which made the weather tolerable and drew a large number of race-fans to attended races.
Ridden by jockey Salah-ud-Din II and trained by Sohail Aziz, the long shot Ranny, defeated odds-on favourite English horse Al Hattab by one and three quarter of a length.
Bay English filly, I ‘M’ Dancing finished third, another seven lengths behind while Moment Of Love completed the frame, two lengths further back.
In all, eight ran for the event, a term race for four-year-old and above Pakistani and imported animals.
Ranny, ran a better race than her stablemate Golden Drift, who ran off the board.
This had become clear prior to the race as when Golden Drift came in the paddock her condition was not looking well. Golden Drift is also trained by Sohail Aziz and was ridden by jockey M. Hanif.
Jockey Salah-ud-Din II and the riding boy, Azhar Hussain and trainer Sohail Aziz shared the racing honours.
Salahuddin rode Victory Road and Ranny, Azhar Hussain brought in Fidel Castro and Jago.
Sohail Aziz sent out three winners, Fidel Castro, Ranny and Jago. The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards cancelled the fourth race due to lack of runners.
