KARACHI, April 10: Yasir Arafat Junior and Saleem Mughal struck sparking centuries to help Sui Northern Gas Private Limited (SNGPL) score a sensational two-wicket victory over Pakistan Customs in a high-scoring Patron’s Cup Pool ‘B’ tie at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Okara on Sunday.
However, despite the setback, Customs still managed to cling onto the second spot in the standings to seal a semifinal berth against PIA in Karachi on Thursday.
Yasir (116 off 125 balls, 13 fours and one six) and Saleem (111 off 94 balls, 12 fours and two sixes) put on exactly 200 for the third wicket after SNGPL lost two wickets cheaply in pursuit of a daunting target of 359.
Imran Khalid also made a vital contribution by striking four sixes and a brace of fours in making 41 off 20 balls to take his side nearer to victory.
Earlier, Kashif Siddique (78 off 63 balls, 10 fours and one six) and Mohammad Ali Niazi (77 off 65 balls, 10 fours and three sixes) gave Customs a flying start by adding 145 for the opening wicket.
The good work was carried further by Naseem Khan (74 off 73 balls, seven fours and one six) and Shahid Siddique (54 off 61 balls, three fours and two sixes) as Customs reached 348 for seven in 50 overs after winning the toss.
