Nine policemen sacked

By Our Correspondent

KOHAT, April 10: The district police officer has terminated the services of nine officials and awarded punishment to 75 others, including two SHOs, for negligence and indiscipline, it is learnt. Presiding over the first quarterly meeting of 2005 of ‘crimes committee’ in his office, SSP Dr Ishtiaq Marwat reminded police officials that nobody was above law and anyone found guilty of misusing authority would be dealt with under the police ordinance 2002.

While the drive against social menace would continue, the accountability of policemen would also be carried out side by side to make police a disciplined and people-friendly force.

He told the SHOs and in-charges of police posts that those found involved in corruption would be awarded harsh punishments.

The policemen dismissed from service and sent on forced retirement are police constables Qaiser Ali, Aman Ali, Faqeer Ali, tailor master Shah Nawaz, Mohammad Siddique, Zia ul Hassan, Kaleem Dad, Ali Zaman and head constable (HC) Gul Mast Khan.

He stopped annual increments of two sub-inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors, two head constables, one lower head constable (LHC) and seven constables. Nineteen policemen have been sent to quarter guard and Rs5,950 recovered from two HCs, seven LHCs and 19 constables who had claimed salary while on French leave.
