Man injured as shell explodes in skip

LAHORE, April 10: A man suffered injuries when a discarded shell exploded in a skip on Fort Road in Tibbi City on Sunday. Police said the shell had been disposed of in the skip. Officials of the city district government put garbage of the skip on fire, they said and added the shell went off with a big bang. A passer-by suffered injuries and window-panes of the building of Lahore Dental College were damaged. The police and other civic agencies, including the bomb disposal squad, rushed to the scene.

The injured man was taken to hospital. He was discharged after first aid.

EXPLOSIVES: A bag full of explosives and anti-aircraft bullets was found in Misri Shah.

The police said the bag had been disposed of near a garbage heap. They said 40 anti-aircraft bullets and some explosives were recovered from the bag, which were taken away by the bomb disposal squad for laboratory test. Further investigation is under way.
