Islamabad to have cultural complex

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 10: President General Pervez Musharraf has announced that a cultural complex will be established in Islamabad to boost cultural activities. He announced this after watching a stage play “Moulin Rouge” at Islamabad Club Auditorium directed by Shah Sharabeel as part of the Margalla Festival. The festival has been organised by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The complex would be built at Shakarparian.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and other important government functionaries were also present on the occasion.

President Musharraf said holding of different cultural and entertainment programmes had changed the scenario of the metropolis in a positive manner. He appreciated the efforts made by Shah Sharabeel and his team and said Pakistani youth had immense potential that needed to be channelised positively for promotion of the country’s culture.

He said cultural revolution was the only way to bring about a positive change in the society and portray the soft image of Pakistan. He emphasized the need for a public-private joint venture in the domain of art and culture.

President Musharraf praised the CDA for organizing cultural programmes and desired to have more cultural activities in the metropolis.

He presented souvenirs to the CDA chairman, Kamran Lashari, Director Sports and Culture Mustafain Kazmi besides the director of the stage play Shah Sharabeel and other artists.

The drama was highly appreciated by the audience in which Usman Khalid Butt performed as hero, Shezrae Aziz as heroin, Ali Rehman Khan as duke. Tanzeel Tahir was music director of the show.
