LAHORE, April 9: The Punjab Revenue department will help acquire 20 per cent land for the private housing schemes having ownership of 80 per cent of the land, and facing the problem of building approach roads.

In a handout issued here on Saturday, Punjab Revenue Minister Gul Hamid Rokri said the Board of Revenue would help acquire the land on recommendations of the executive district officer (Revenue). The EDO (R) had no authority to acquire the land on his own. Mr Rokri said the developers would have to pay the existing market price of the land acquired for their housing schemes.

He claimed the number of land disputes pending with the BoR was reducing with the passage of time because the members were disposing of the cases at a faster pace.
