Aqib first to enter last eight

LAHORE, April 8: Aqib Hanif was the first player to move into the under-19 quarterfinals of National Junior championship after defeating Waseem Gul 9-1, 9-0, 9-0 here on Friday at PSA Complex.

Only one match was decided in the under-19 event and in the under-17, 15, 13 and 11 age groups no upset was recorded and fancied players advanced to the quarterfinal stage with ease.

Girls championship also commenced and a number of first round matches were also played in the under-19, 15 and 13 age groups.
