LAHORE, April 8: Howard Hipwood and Jamie Le Hardy slammed five goals each to inspire BMA Capital Army to a 12- 8 ½ win against Patchi in the President Cup polo tournament on Friday at the Lahore Polo Club.

Dhruvpal Godara of Patchi struck five goals but despite his best efforts his team ended up as losers.

Patchi with a 1 ½ goal handicap drew first blood when Taimur Mawaz struck a field goal.

The winners struck back when Le Hardy and Hipwood slammed in a field goal each to make it 2-2 1/2 at the end the first chukker.

In the second chukker, Le Hardy netted a field goal and Patachi’s top scorer Dhruvpal started his action by converting a 40 yard-penalty.

Hissam Hyder of the winners slammed in his first to make

it 4-3 ½ at the end of the

second chukker.

Hissam struck again at the start of of the third chukker, followed by

Hipwood who scored twice through field goals.

Dhruvpal scored off a 30 yard-penalty hit and the chukker ended 7- 4 ½.

In the fourth chukker Hipwood completed his hat trick off a field goal and then Le Hardy came up with two consecutive field goals to surge ahead 10-4 1/2.

Dhruvpal went for his hat trick striking off a 30-yard penalty and Howard scored his fifth goal only to be followed by Dhrupal’s fourth with the fourth chukker ending 11-6 1/2.

The winners appeared content in the fifth chukker scoring only one through Le Hardy who converted a spot penalty as Patchi’s Dhruvpal and Taimur shared one field goal each to narrow the deficit at 12-8 ½.—APP
