Assistant advocate-general Raja Abdur Rehman deposed before Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Friday after a visit to the area that part of the cattle market stood extended to the playground and had damaged the sewerage system. He said that trucks were being parked and thousands of the cattle offloaded daily with the result that residents were exposed to various diseases and were also meeting accidents because of the movement of trucks and cattle.
The court appointed the AAG as the local commission on April 1 in the proceedings of a contempt of court plea against town nazim Sardar Adil Omer, moved by the president of the Sabzazar Welfare Association, with the contention that the town municipal administration had failed to shift the cattle market outside the residential area despite an LHC order.
