Tsunami series likely to be put off
KARACHI, April 7: The forthcoming Pakistan-India hockey series to generate money for tsunami relief fund is likely to be put off.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Tariq Kirmani said on Thursday that the Indian Hockey Federation would inform PHF about their team’s availability on Friday.
If the series is confirmed arch-rivals Pakistan and India will play three-match series in Karachi, Colombo and New Delhi/Chandigarh.
The dates of the matches may also be changed because the opening match of the series is scheduled to be played at HCP on April 22 which coincides with Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The proposed dates for the matches are Karachi (April 22), Colombo (April 25) and New Delhi/Chandigarh (April 28).
Pakistan senior team’s camp for the series had already started at the HCP from Wednesday. If the series is cancelled, the national camp will wind up and resume next month for Azlan Shah Cup.—APP
