Rape victim, accused and doctors summoned
SHEIKHUPURA, April 7: The inquiry officer has summoned for Friday (today) the victim, her mother, father and the accused, the son of District Nazim Chaudhry Tawakkalullah Virk, his driver and three doctors to record their statements in an alleged rape case. City Circle ASP Ijaz Ahmad Khan has been deputed the inquiry officer. MS Dr Muhammad Khan Awan, Dr Khawar Rafiq and Dr Farida Sheraz Warraich had conducted the medical examination of the victim, who was reportedly raped by accused Moazzam Ali Virk.
Meanwhile, Malik Ahmad Awan, the opposition leader in the district assembly, in a press conference here on Thursday described the incident as shameful.
He claimed that the victim’s brother informed him that and his mother Halima Bibi, father Ali Sher and victim ‘B’ had been abducted so that they could not appear before the inquiry officer.
The opposition leader alleged that the accused, who were influential people, were tightening the screws on the abducted family members for the statement of their liking.
