Flour millers for loans

Published April 7, 2005

LAHORE, April 6: The Punjab chapter of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association has urged the State Bank and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock to ensure issuance of loans to millers for the purchase of wheat. PFMA President Khaleeq Arshad said on Wednesday that the State Bank was yet to issue directions to the scheduled banks despite an announcement of the loan and purchase policy for millers and the arrival of crop in some markets.

He said farmers would again be at loss in the absence of more buyers due to non-availability of the loan facility keeping in view the expected bumper wheat crop.
