HAFIZABAD, April 5: Wheat growers in the district have expressed concern over lack of wheat purchase arrangements by the government. Despite the announcement pertaining to wheat purchase made by the government on April 1, neither purchase points had been announced in villages nor sacks (Bardana) had been supplied to the farmers, Kissan Board president Chaudhry Amanullah Chatha said at a meeting here on Tuesday. It might discourage the farmers and create problems for the rice growers, he added.

The farmers demanded the government should take adequate measures to activate Pasco and issue orders for the purchase of wheat without further delay.

The private sector should also be allowed to purchase wheat from open market and transport wheat to other districts, so that farmers could get due reward of their labour. — Correspondent
