KARACHI, April 4: Qadeer Ahmad struck a hat trick to propel Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) into All-Pakistan PTCL floodlight football quarterfinals after a 4-2 victory over Wohaib Club in a controversial match at Dring Stadium, Bahawlpur. According to reports available here, Qadeer slammed home his first goal after a pass from Sajjad Hussain in the seventh minute and doubled the lead after receiving a pass from Sajjad in the 32nd minute.

Wohaib Club reduced the margin in the 69th minute through Mohammad Waqas following a pass from Mohammad Asif. Waqas got his double to level the scores after again being set up by Asif in the 73rd minute.

Controversy erupted the next minute as few children entered the field to congratulate Wohaib Club goalkeeper Abdullah after his side equalised but referee Jahangir Khan signalled to resume without noticing the presence of fans in the field.

Consequently, Qadeer scored his hat trick with the centre kick as goalkeeper was out of his position.

Wohaib Club players and the officials protested over the disputed goal but the referee did not change his decision.

KRL made it 4-2 after Shahzad netted the fourth goal off a pass from substitute Mudassir in the 78th minute.
