Action against illegal cable operators soon

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 4: Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Iftikhar Rashid on Monday warned illegal cable operators of legal action if they failed to registered themselves with the authority. “Cable operators and Pemra are partners and should work together for development of cable industry,” he said at a meeting with representatives of Cable Operators Association from around the country.

He said Pemra intended to develop a cable industry on a sound footing and make the cable operators industry managers.

This can only be achieved if cable operators are brought into the net of Pemra law. A punitive campaign will be launched against all illegal cable operators failing to register themselves before the deadline,” he said.
