Fesco staff escape public wrath

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, April 4: The Fesco complaint cell officials locked themselves in their office on Monday evening when a group of infuriated consumers attempted to beat them up for long hours’ power breakdown. Electricity supply to a large number of localities remained suspended from 8am to 2pm. After that Wapda disconnected supply of majority of posh areas, including University Road, Railway Road and PAF Road in the evening. When the people contacted complaint cell, the staff, instead of entertaining them, humiliated them. On it, they got enraged and tried to beat them.

When contacted, they failed to explain the reasons for power breakdown.

However, some low rank officials, seeking anonymity, alleged that the breakdown occurred due to the use of substandard material as high officers sell quality equipment in the open market instead of installation.

They alleged that goods worth around Rs1 million were being misappropriated every month. They claimed that Fesco monitoring teams were also sharing the amounts without doing their task.
