Fast goods train from Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, April 3: The Pakistan Railways has decided to launch a fast goods train from Faisalabad Dry Port to Karachi ports from April 11.

According to a spokesman for the Faisalabad Dry Port Trust here on Sunday, the train will reach Faisalabad at 2am, while its departure from here will be at 4am. The transit time of this train will be 30 hours, and the first train will leave for Port Qasim, the spokesman added.

Later, the train will leave for Port Qasim three days a week, while it will go to Karachi ports on the remaining three days.

The PR has also reduced freight charges. Charges for a 20-foot loaded container have been reduced from Rs7,000 to Rs6,500, while for a 40-foot loaded container charges will be Rs10,800.

These reduced charges will remain effective till Sept 30, 2005, and will be revised after the said date, the spokesman added.—APP
