‘Police action claims life’

DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 2: An ex-serviceman died of a cardiac arrest which he suffered because of alleged intrusion of Choti police into his house and attempt to arrest him for the alleged wrongdoing of his brother-in-law.

Reports said Choti police,

led by SHO Iqbal Chandia,

raided Javed’s house at

Basti Khosa to arrest his brother-in-law, Bashir, against whom

a case of abduction was registered.

When police did not find the suspect, they tried to arrest Javed and his brother, Pervez, and during a skirmish the former suffered heart attack and died instantly.

Later, the deceased’s wife, relatives and some villagers staged a protest against the Choti police by placing the dead body in front of the Dera Ghazi Khan DIG office.

The protesters demanded an inquiry into the case.

However, no case was

registered till last reports came in.

It is pertinent to mention

here that the Choti police

SHO is allegedly involved in killing of a youth, Saifullah, last year.

Qasim Zia: Punjab PPP president Qasim Zia was accorded a warm welcome by the party workers and leaders when he reached here on Saturday evening.

Mr Zia reached here to attend a party convention at a hotel. He was received at the bypass and brought to the city in a motorcade.
