Pakistan, China to waive duty on agri products
ISLAMABAD, April 2: Pakistan and China have agreed to reduce customs duty to zero per cent on some tradable items, mostly the agricultural products, under the early harvest programme (zero- customs duty).
An official source told Dawn on Saturday that a list of items finalized by the technical experts of the two countries would be signed during the forthcoming visit of Chinese premier to Pakistan.
Under the programme, China would waive duty on Pakistani fruits and vegetables, particularly mangoes.
The early harvest programme would be subsequently converted into free trade agreement between the two countries, the source added.
During the Chinese premier’s visit, he said, Pakistan would also suggest further reviewing of the existing Bilateral Investment Treaty between the two countries for strengthening trade and economic relations.
