Shujaat to visit China

Published April 1, 2005

ISLAMABAD, March 31: President of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is to follow his successful current visit to India with a trip to China, the party’s central information secretary, Senator Tariq Azim Khan, said. Mr Hussain will be making this visit in the third week of May on the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

It is part of the ongoing process of party to party contacts initiated by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in 2003. “Continual contacts between established political parties lead to a better understanding of each other’s viewpoint and are the best way to forge better relationships on permanent basis,” Senator Tariq Azim Khan said.

Meanwhile, the acting secretary-general of the PML, Mohammad Iqbal Dar, said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s visit to India would bring the two countries more closer. This journey of friendship between the two countries must move forward, he added.
