ATC reserves judgment in blast cases

KARACHI, March 21: An anti-terrorism court reserved judgments in two petrol pump blast cases against two workers of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Aalmi.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-5 fixed March 26 for pronouncement of judgments after he heard final arguments from special public prosecutor Mazhar Qayyum and defence counsel M.R. Syed.

Acused Naeem Roofi and Syed Ahmer Kazmi have been prosecuted for carrying out bomb blasts at two petrol pumps in Gizri and Saddar on May 15, 2003.

Meanwhile, the same court recorded the statement of a sub-inspector in two other petrol pump blast cases against the same set of accused.

The two Harkat men are being prosecuted for the blasts at two petrol pumps in the limits of the Jamshed Quarters police.

Defence counsel M.R. Syed also cross-examined SI Abid Farooq before the judge put off the hearing till March 26.
