KARACHI: Frequent transfers in health dept criticized

KARACHI, March 19: The Pakistan Medical Association condemned the present practice of transfers and postings in provincial health department. The frequent transfers and postings were in total violation of merit and without any consideration of honesty and integrity, the PMA said. “It seems that the health department has no interest in smooth and efficient running of health department and has no desire to appoint competent people on responsible post. It also seems that the health department has no trust on honest officers,” it added.

The posts of EDOs and medical superintendents were for sale, alleged the PMA, adding that any junior person can be transferred to senior post after “paying the price” to the authority concerned. The health department is destroying the already under strain health care system in the province, the PMA alleged. It demanded that all appointments, postings and transfers should only be based on merit. The senior, honest and hardworking employees should be rewarded and corrupt officers should be removed from the department.—PPI
